A photographer takes thousands and thousands of hours of practice making mistake after mistake to begin to make sense of photography. Then and only then does she begin to have command over light, composition, form, shade, texture, and other elements of capturing a photograph. Once she has mastered command over these elements something magical begins to happen. This is where Michelle conducts her art, taking reality and turning it just a touch creating illusion. Like Mary Shelley describing a lightning storm, or Charles Baudelaire describing a Catholic mass at night, Michelle captures something magical in a flash. Sometimes haunting sometimes wonderful, and always provocatively inviting one into her world.

 Randall Stovall.

I was born in Berkley California, but I was raised on the central coast, mainly Pacific Grove CA. It is a beautiful foggy little seaside town filled with Victorian houses and monarch butterflies, it’s pretty you should visit. My medium is photography. When I started to explore myself through the lens it was very literal. I would go out into the world and capture whatever I found interesting, and I would also photograph my friends as well, sometimes dressed normally, other times in silly costumes and poses. As I continued my journey with photography I felt the need to be a more thoughtful storyteller. Using a camera, a computer, and my knowledge of photoshop I started creating images that expressed mood and feeling through color and texture. Sometimes my work is moody and thoughtful, or it can be whimsical and playful. Either way I am hoping to bring you into my imagination and to tell you a little story.
